The colours green, white and black are used to make a disturbing sense on the poster, and are what we usually find on a movie poster.
The typography has a large O to link with the idea of the wring, and is done in order to make it looks like it was scrawled by a child.
The fuzzy image mirrors the video tape quality that we usually see.
Overall this is a very dark and dismal poster.
Mama
Eye line goes straight to the little girl holding someone's hand and cowering behind it, which is what we expect from a young child, but as we follow the arm up, we realise that this is not a normal woman.
Brows, whites, greens, and blacks are used in the poster, which is again what the audience expects.
The title of the movie 'Mama' connotes the caring and loving relationship that we expect, but this placed in front of the image makes the genre automatically recognisable and makes the poster uneasy.
'A mothers love is forever' s small, making our focus on the image, but creates a strong message, and links the way the child is holding on to the mother so tightly.
Shutter Island
Even though the film title stands out with bold and red typography, it helps us see "October", highlighting all the important information.
Red connotes blood and the danger, it appears to reflect blood being smeared across the poster.
The protagonist's face is the main thing on the poster, so we can infer that the genre of the film is a psychological thriller.
The island is small comparison but is shaped in a triangular sense to make the attention on DiCaprio.
