Ill Manors Trailer Deconstruction

Typography
The use of the text within the trailer makes the viewer really take in what is being said, especially as the text corresponds to the voiceover. The text is also placed at a speed that makes it easily readable. The typography of a bold white font really stands out against the sped up scenes of London and what we see in the background. The text co insides with what we see the characters doing, this is especially effective when it says "every action has a reaction".

Also, the font is bold which makes it look like certain situations have a big impact on other events that are everything, if we imagine the text to be a tall and thin font, it looks less intimidating and would not go as well with the urban drama genre.

London Representation

The use of London is heavily emphasised, we see iconic landmarks such as the city, the streets, the busy roads, and the transport. This sets expectations for the film, and immediately clarifies the urban drama genre. Run down areas are good to feature as we can infer this is a common occurrence in London. The transport system for London is idolised across the world, and this is shown with pictures of trains and tubes, which would be something we need to include in our trailer. With the establishing shots of London the audience can see that they are filmed at night, giving us the impression that most crime in London takes place at night or within the early hours of the morning. Which we may have to work with for our final piece of coursework in order to maintain the authenticity of the genre.

Gangs and Area
Gangs are commonly used in urban dramas, and the focus is placed upon one individual. However this film doesn't appear to focus on an individual, it more focuses on aspects in a variety of people's daily lives and sees their struggles and the consequences of their actions. The connotations that we expect from gangs in urban dramas are drug taking, belonging to a wider organisation, police involvement, and  then violence. All of which we see within this trailer. Interestingly the trailer shows children's pictures of the characters, emphasising the text that states "the choices you make", portraying that this life was bound to happen from birth, and there is nothing they can do to alter it, because their environment influences the choices they make greatly.

Sound and Editing
The trailer starts with dialogue from characters, yet it voices over other scenes of the trailer. The voice over is from Plan B, a known artist who made the soundtrack from the film, the soundtrack starts of slow and then turns more fast paced and dangerous, this co insides with the scenes that are edited together with a series of jump cuts to create a full montage, allowing us to see aspects of each character.
