Fake Cocaine Creation

• In our trailer we are portraying an urban youth who has to resort to selling drugs and entering the drug game to provide for his family as they are unfit to do so, so we believed that an effective way to do so was to show the protagonist handling the class A drug cocaine.
• To begin creating our fake cocaine I used the most accessible white powder which was self raising flour, I believed that the use of white powder would resemble cocaine enough that if used within a shot, the viewers would be convinced that drug dealing was taking place

• I wanted to wrap the flour up in a way that cocaine is wrapped up when it is being sold in 'bricks' which is its slang term, which literally means its being wrapped up so when completed it resembles a brick or a block, so as I was trying to keep it as realistic as possible I wrapped the flour around a box like item, this was because when I wrap the flour in clingfilm the final result would resemble a realistic cocaine brick.

• The final product was as realistic as I would have liked it to be, the flour began to resemble the object that is was wrapped around, I placed the knife in this picture to show how the clingfilm will be cut open to reveal the white powder within.
• This fake cocaine will then be shot when the protagonist is ripping the clingfilm open and tasting the cocaine to test its authenticity, the cocaine will be tasted from the knife which is shown within the shot on the right. 
• I believe that by using an over the shoulder shot to show the protagonist handling the drugs, the viewers would how we are trying to create an accurate depiction of how urban youths come in contact with drugs in current day.
