Kidnap

Based on the kidnapping that occured in India fairly recently, we thought that we could use ideas from the actual story to include within our film trailer, or use the story as the cultural reference.
From the media reports on the story, we know that the couple who were abducted, were taken by a group of people posing a tour operators. It was a complex kidnap with operators in London and India and although this would be difficult to portray completely within a trailer, using a kidnap/abduction plot would appeal to a broad audience.

Although kidnapping occurring is not common in this country, there are many stories from around the world that the media follows and reports which can be used as inspiration. They're are usually planned out very intricately. The idea of kidnap is usually associated with children due to stories that are massively publicised in the media, the kidnapping stories that involve adults are those that are more planned out like the India kidnap included above.

Films such as Taken, based on the abduction of a family's daughter for sex trafficking and then the fight to get her back again, involve a lot of action which we couldn't involve and also it is commonly heard that this film is barely believable that one man could kill so many people so I feel we should take this into account so that we don't take anything to the extreme and exaggerate it so much that it doesn't seem realistic.

By running a kidnapping storyline, we could go down the route of psychological thriller/horror, maybe even a supernatural horror if we could portray it well enough on camera.

From these kidnaps listed, many ideas can be drawn from them that we could use to create a storyline for the film that we make our trailer on, for example father kidnaps daughter, teenager is abducted in car park etc.
