Previous Website Deconstruction

Bittersweet
  • The suitability for the horror film is evident on the webpage with the dark colours, and creepy girl at the side, the typography combined also adds to the expected ideas of a horror film.
  • The target audience of someone who likes horror films, and would target a wide audience, but the idea of a birthday party may appeal to a younger audience more (18-25)
  • The effectiveness of the image portrays what the film is going to be about, and the use of the birthday cake making the girls eyes darker and creepier adds to the effectiveness of the horror genre.
  • The trailer doesn't start automatically, and I feel it lets down the webpage.
  • Title is embedded and gives a professional look with the slogan with he movie title embedded.
  • Font colour is good, the purple gives us connotations of mystery, the size is readable and the font keeps things clear, allowing us to focus of the title.
  • Film reviews really benefit, and make the site better, and make me want to really watch the film.
  • Convergence to social media found on the site, good for promoting from fans.
  • Overall colour scheme is effective in connoting the mysterious nature of the film, while keeping that element of horror.
  • Very user-friendly site.

Alternet
  • The suitability for the psychological thriller genre is evident on this webpage, with the dark colour scheme used in as well as the image used, dark haired boy with the eyes staring directly at the audience.
  • The target audience of someone who likes psychological thrillers, they can reach a wide audience by creating a wide curiosity, in this example, the links with Facebook niches the target audience to 16-35 year olds, as they are commonly connected with the use of social media.
  • The effectiveness of the image highlights what the film is about, and I think this group did really well when it came to selecting an image, the eyes show emotion that is felt by the protagonist.
  • The trailer does start automatically, and allows us to focus on it with it’s position being in the centre.
  • Title is embedded but looks like it could have been embedded better.
  • Font colour is good as the connotations of Facebook come with the blue, the size is reasonable, and the font is clear and simple, allowing the focus to be on the picture.
  • Film reviews really benefit, and make the site better, and make me want to really watch the film.
  • Convergence to social media, which is great for the social-media influenced trailer.
  • Overall colour scheme is effective in connoting the genre of the film to the audience, and the blue connotations of Facebook.
  • Very user-friendly site.
Vendetta

•The suitability for the horror genre is evident on this webpage, with the dark colour scheme used in combination with the red and blood-like typography that is used for ‘Vendetta’ which is Italian for revenge. We also see the white text with red highlight around it.
•The target audience of someone who likes horror films will find that the focus is the girl on screen, in an off white dress, heavy eyes, and also highlighted by blood, where we instantly connote a paranormal/creepy aspect of the young girl – common in many horror films.
•The effectiveness of the image highlights what the film is about, however I think it’s not as effective as it could be, as a better quality, and more paranormal influenced picture could've been taken. Trailer does start automatically, and there is soundtrack playing in the background, which I find effective, but annoying when the trailer is playing.
•Title is embedded well and gives of a professional feel.
•Font colour is good, however the sizes of a few links are different size which feels off putting, and font chosen could have been more creepy.
•No film reviews on site, which lets down the whole site.
•Convergence to social media which is effective for promotion.
•Overall colour scheme is effective in connoting the genre of the film to the audience.
•Quite user friendly, but I think the trailer should be placed more centre of the screen, and maybe adjusting the image to the other side.
