Fights Found on YouTube

As our genre is Urban Drama, we need to max up the drama element, and we will be able to do this if we add a fight scene to our montage. By doing this we satisfy the conversions of violence in Urban Drama's in our own trailer. However filming a realistic fight scene may be hard to recreate, so I decided to research some non copyrighted fights on You Tube that we could possibly add a few seconds from to our trailer. When searching for fights, I found the most authentic ones were filmed in Central London, excellent for our trailer. There proved to be a lot of fights on You Tube that we could use, however I chose the most effective ones to analyse.

Above

This fight shows the conflict between two males, one white and one black. This fight was filmed in Central London, and the building work around the fight makes the scene that bit more edgy.  It is a fight shot at an aerial  angle which therefore allows the viewer to see the conflict in the fight in a different way.   It also makes the viewer feel like they are involved, but they do not have  a close audience relationship with the fight. In my opinion, I found that the most interesting part of the fight is during 3.29 when the conflict is still going on, but in the background we hear a police car coming closer, almost if to signalize the end of the conflict. Yet no one seems to be calming down. We also hear a variety of shouts, emphasising the emotion they feel. Finally, we see many people around trying to break up the fight, and to inflict some sort of control .

 

Ground

This fight is on the ground footage taken from a camera phone, I think this therefore makes the filming really effective, as a member of the public is filming, making the fight seem very spontaneous. Also the quality is not that good - unlike a camera - due to the shouts and the wind, yet I feel this creates a much better representation of Central London and the youth filming fights. The angle that the phone is placed in is made to be quite secretive, as if the person would get in trouble for filming. Its also effective seeing members of the public dumbfounded by these fights, and gives off the effect of the social panic that is created around the youth.
