Many typographies did not work out to plan and we were still yet to find the defining typography of our Urban Drama trailer. Shay then found this tutorial on YouTube and then handed it to me to create another form of typography.
I found this texture on Google when I typed in 'grunge background' into Google. I figured this image would be easier to edit when adding harsher eroded effects onto it.
I created a threshold layer and set this so I had a balance between the black and white on the screen.
It was important to duplicate this layer so I could work with it later on, and also so I could see the layers alternatively and how different editing effects changed the overall image.
I then changed the fill opacity to zero, and the knockout to shallow. This therefore made the black and white come through more effectively.
The next part to do was add the text into the background, I made the text quite big so it covered over the highlighted white edges.
I then free transformed this text so I could make it larger on the screen.
Overall my group is pleased with this creation of the final typography, it conveys the 'gritty' and 'grimy' image that Urban Dramas portray.
