Poster Photos Manipulation (Test)

I wanted to create a gritty photo so I used this Photoshop tutorial that I found on YouTube as it looked promising with clear and easy instructions to follow.

I wanted a close up of a man's face, many of the images on Google have watermarks over them, so I settled for this one.

I had to create a copy of the layer in order to work with it, and I learnt how to add a new layer style. The one I used in this instance is 'black and white' which I then linked with the layer I was using.

This then turned the photo into a black and white effect, which I then reduced the opacity so that it wasn't as harsh, as those effects would be manipulated in later.

I then had to use the 'high pass' tool so that the texturised effect was able to be portrayed through the image. The pixels had to be reduced greatly so that we could see only the outline of the image, but not too harsh that the image was unclear.

This then had this effect on the image.

I then added a 'Hue and Saturation' layer into the image, so that it became slightly coloured. I then added more orange and green tones to give it that grimey look.

I then increased the sharpness for overall effectiveness.

I cropped the image to remove the hand. This is my before an after of the image.
